Sailing in Croatia

Croatia is one of the world’s most desirable sailing destinations with 6,000 km of coastline and thousands of coves. Over 1,244 islands offer protection from the open seas and countless bays to explore with picturesque coastal towns and mountain ranges as a backdrop. Great climate, mild seas, protected bays with modern infrastructure and marinas. Towns and villages are easily accessible for sightseeing and provisions.

Croatia has a diverse landscape, the purest sea in Europe and some of the beaches are the best in the world.

3 National Parks are islands- Brijuni in Istra, Kornati near Zadar and Mljet near Dubrovnik.

The mountains meet the turquoise sea with mild a Mediterranean climate.

History

Apart from natural beauty, Croatia is known for its historical and cultural heritage. Ten UNESCO World Heritage sites are within easy mooring distance- Poreč, Zadar, Šibenik (has 2), Trogir, Split, Stari Grad and Dubrovnik. Ancient city walls and cobbled streets provide endless scenic photo backdrops.

Food and wine

You will find endless options of local and seasonal food such as fresh seafood on the grill, a platter of prosciutto with cheese, oysters, pasta with local truffles or a Peka (slow cooked meat and potatoes cooked under a bell over hot fire). A local spirit called Rakija will kickstart any morning. Croatia wine making dates back thousands of years producing popular local varieties such Pošip and Plavac.

Adventure

You bucket list could include Stand Up paddles, jet skiing and parasailing in Croatia. On land you can lock up your bike and try 4WD buggies or mountain climbing. Or have a wine on the waterfront and people watch.

Entertainment
